When it comes to love, the question that has been driving me completely nuts does sound cliché, although no one has ever been able to satisfactorily answer it. How much does one need to love themselves in order to have others love them? Or, how much do we need to love ourselves in order to be ready to let ourselves be loved by somebody else? “I do love myself”, one may say. But what does that really mean? Does it mean that you love who and what you are despite all the flaws that only mom is able to put up with? That’s easy. That’s what moms are for. Do you think you love yourself because nobody is able to talk you down and, even if they do, you won’t feel affected by that? That’s disguised low self esteem. Sorry. Do you wear the best clothes and the most modern lotions and clays? Spend a lot of money and time on treatments and fitness programs? Are you what you eat? Are you good stuff, then? When did you last spend some quality time with a good friend doing nothing but enjoying being there? How much do you spend on good reading? Money and/ or time? What was the last book you read? How much did it touch you? I mean, has it? When did you last undergo a health checkup? Did you follow your doctor’s advice and prescription? Still do? Look at the mirror now. Like what you see? Call 5 friends now. I mean, real ones. You have 5 of them, right? Ask them how they think you face your real life, success and flaws. Have the guts for that? …………. Hmmm……. didn’t convince me. Anyway, you love yourself….I’m sure you do.
